Full Job Description

Local knowledge of the patch is very useful, as is a passion for storytelling. In our newsroom, no two days are ever the same. You'll have the ability to tell stories from across the area, with a focus on the African and Caribbean communities. You'll be great at telling those stories we cover in an engaging and creative way. You will look to ensure a full diversity of voices, meeting high journalistic standards and observing the BBC Editorial Guidelines. You'll have the ability to get the very best from our presenter and other colleagues who work on these shows.

Are you the right candidate?

The ideal candidate will be brimming with ideas for great content. You'll understand how to tell a story in a way in which our listeners can understand and engage with it. You'll be thinking about how to add value to an item using social media. You certainly won't be relying on the same old guests… And you'll really care about reaching and engaging with a truly diverse audience. You will be able to effectively respond to a breaking or developing news story.

About the BBC

We don't focus simply on what we do - we also care how we do it. Our values and the way we behave are important to us. Please make sure you've read about our values and behaviours.

Diversity matters at the BBC. We have a working environment where we value and respect every individual's unique contribution, enabling all of our employees to thrive and achieve their full potential.

We want to attract the broadest range of talented people to be part of the BBC - whether that's to contribute to our programming or our wide range of non-production roles. The more diverse our workforce, the better able we are to respond to and reflect our audiences in all their diversity.

We are committed to equality of opportunity and welcome applications from individuals, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, socio-economic background, religion and/or belief. We will consider flexible working requests for all roles, unless operational requirements prevent otherwise.

We're now looking for a talented, proactive studio producer to work on this show. Creativity is really important in this role. You'll be a good team player and you'll be brimming with story ideas to share with our audience. You'll also have the ability to recognise how we can share those stories in a variety of ways, not just on the radio, but on TV and digital platforms as well.

Salary: £27,000 - £33,000 pro-rata depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

We're happy to discuss flexible working. Please indicate your choice under the flexible working question in the application. There is no obligation to raise this at the application stage but if you wish to do so, you are welcome to. Flexible working will be part of the discussion at offer stage.

1. Excellent career progression - the BBC offers great opportunities for employees to seek new challenges and work in different areas of the organisation.
2. Unrivalled training and development opportunities - our in-house Academy hosts a wide range of internal and external courses and certification.
3. Benefits- We offer a competitive salary package, a flexible 35-hour working week for work-life balance and 26 days annual leave (1 of which is a corporation day) with the option to buy an extra 5 days, a defined pension scheme and discounted dental, health care, gym and much more.
