Full Job Description

A great opportunity has arisen for a Trust CT post (Junior Clinical Fellow, CT1-2 Equivalent) in ENT for 12 months. This is a replacement post aimed at doctors wishing to gain experience in the specialty and to support the department in clinical duties. There will be opportunities to attend theatre sessions. There are also opportunities to partake in all the education activities within the department. This post would be ideal for doctors having completed FY2 and wish to gain experience before CST application or those who have completed CST training and wish to gain experience prior to ST3 application The candidate is expected to participate in the ENT on-call rota. There are daily SHO urgent referral clinics as well as opportunities to attend theatre and consultant clinics. The postholder is expected to join ward rounds, help with ward based duties and participate in the Emergency ENT SHO clinics. A candidate who is unable for personal reasons to undertake the duties of a whole-time post will receive equal consideration. If such a candidate is appointed the job content will be modified as appropriate in consultation with consultant colleagues and local management. Main duties of the job The appointment is to the Trust, not to specific hospitals. The post holder is expected to provide care to Ear, Nose and Throat patients as well as take part in the combined ENT/Plastics out of hours Tier 1 on-call service. The candidate will be part of a team providing management of ENT in-patients and the duties will include ward cover, SHO emergency clinics as well as the participation in the on-call rota. Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital is a teaching hospital and the post-holder may be expected participate in undergraduate teaching to medical students. All employees, including the appointee, will be expected to be involved in implementing the Trust's Clinical Governance programme. This includes active participation in clinical audit, quality, clinical guidelines/pathways, professional development, appraisal and risk management

Essential

  • Full GMC Registration with licence to practice
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Desirable
  • A further undergraduate or post graduate degree, Good communicator.
  • Capable of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to time manage and be organized.
  • Experience Essential
  • Applicants who are Nationals from another European country or elsewhere overseas would have to show equivalence to training in the National Health Service.
  • Experience in Ear, Nose & Throat
  • Previous paid NHS employment
  • Desirable
  • Publications in Educational or Medical peer reviewed journals
  • Experience in research or teaching.
  • Previous ENT experience, Flexible outlook on working hours.
  • Ability to work across sites when public transport may not be available
  • Communications and Language Skills Essential
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clinical colleagues and support staff
  • Ability to present effectively to an audience, using a variety of methods, and to respond to questions and queries
