Full Job Description

Temporary Key Stage 4 Manager (Maternity Cover)

Stroud High School is an Outstanding (Ofsted Nov 23), 21st Century girls' grammar school with a coeducational Sixth Form. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a community of like-minded staff committed to preparing bright and able students with the skills, knowledge and character to make a difference in the world. It is an environment where you can develop your professional expertise and join a school which achieved 'State Secondary School of the Year, South West' (Sunday Times - Parent Power 2025).

Stroud High School has reviewed the traditional role of the Year Leader and has built a team approach to take responsibility for different key stages. This team is now staffed almost entirely by dedicated members of the support team.

We are looking to appoint a Temporary Key Stage Manager for Years 10 & 11 for a maternity cover starting Monday 24 February 2025, which allows a handover period before the colleague finishes.

This post is designed to lead and manage the work of the Key Stage 4 team. As Key Stage 4 manager, you will play a leading role in the daily lives and experiences of the students at school. The job has been designed to allow us to have maximum impact in supporting young people as they navigate their way through their exam years. There is a vibrant team of staff, both teaching staff and support staff, all working together to support students and ensure the right provision is in place to make the most of the opportunities in front of them.

As a member of the support staff, we believe you will be able to have a significant impact on the lives of the young people in our care and this job has been designed to allow the right individual to come in and make this difference. Support and training will be provided.

The role is 37 hours per week, term time only with some additional work required on some Inset days and potentially during the school holidays.

Stroud High School is committed to the highest levels of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and we expect all our staff and volunteers to share in this commitment. All offers of employment are subject to an Enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references to the school and where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check, will be completed for all applicants. Before applying, please review our Policy Statement on the Recruitment of Ex-Offenders.
