Full Job Description

We are looking for a Lead Site Reliability Engineer to be responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, operational excellence and performance of our systems and services. You will lead a team of SREs, collaborate with various departments, including 3rd parties, and implement best practices to enhance our infrastructure. Your role will be crucial in maintaining the stability and scalability of our platforms.   • Leadership and Team Management:
  • + Leading and mentoring a team of SREs, providing guidance and support. + Fostering a culture of reliability and continuous improvement within the team. + Ensuring the team have the right skills and training to be able to deliver the services and technologies required.
  • System Reliability and Performance:
  • + Designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, secure and reliable systems. + Monitoring system performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize for efficiency. + Developing and maintaining automation tools to improve system reliability, delivery processes and reduce manual intervention. + Supporting shared services that are used in development, testing and production environments (e.g. Gitlab, Concourse, Jenkins etc.) + Supporting Evri achieve compliance with the Well Architectured AWS Framework through: Operational Excellence, Performance, Cost Optimisation, Security and Reliability
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • + Working closely with development, operations, and product teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of new features. + Communicating effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on system status and reliability. + Reporting on key performance indicators.
  • Documentation and Best Practices:
  • + Developing and maintaining comprehensive documentation for systems and processes. + Implementing and promoting best practices for system reliability and performance.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience in managing technical teams, ensuring effective technical leadership as well as mentoring and developing the team.
  • Some experience with configuration management tools and infrastructure as code (we use a mixture of Ansible and CloudFormation)
  • Proven experience with CI/CD tools (we use Jenkins and Concourse CI)
  • A background in software development is considered a plus
  • Experience with Windows and/or Linux administration
  • AWS certification is essential - Solutions Architect (SA1), DevOps Specialist
  • Experience of Container orchestration, ideally using ECS or Kubernetes.
  • A background of scripting in (Bash, Batch, PowerShell)
  • A background in at least one of the following High-level languages (Python, Typescript)
  • Knowledge and/ or experience with Java
