Full Job Description
Applications are invited for a Senior Lecturer/ Lecturer in Physiotherapy. If you are an experienced HCPC registered Physiotherapist, are enthusiastic about supporting Physiotherapists' learning and research we would be pleased to hear from you.
You will join an ambitious academic team with shared research and professional interests, therapists' entrepreneurship, improvement and implementation within the healthcare setting, and in mental health and wellbeing. Most of the time you will support our Physiotherapy students, however interprofessional education is a key part of our learning and teaching approach
The Role
As a Senior Lecturer/Lecturer, you will use your previous academic, or high-quality practice experience (cardiorespiratory background preferred), as a Physiotherapist to deliver specialist and generalist knowledge and skills to students at all HE levels. You will use different learning and teaching methods, sensitive to different cultures and students' ways of learning. Using contemporary evidence, you will prepare students for future clinical practice which supports embedding research into practice for patient benefit. Your level of appointment will be in line with your previous experience
You also work within an established and friendly group of academic and professional staff and will contribute to enhancing the work and the reputation of the School as a whole, collaborating inter-professionally and effectively with colleagues in the Faculty, University and externally as appropriate. The nature of this contribution will vary according to your experience and your direction of work will be required to fit with the School's strategic plans.
You will use your knowledge of best practice in your profession and education methods, combined with excellent communication skills to support students in their learning to become safe, autonomous, competent Physiotherapists. You will work closely with all stakeholders to co-produce teaching materials to create an inclusive environment for students. You will continue your own personal and professional development as an academic using the evidence base and research to inform teaching.
We welcome applications from UK HCPC registered experienced Physiotherapy practitioners who have a minimum of a relevant first Honours degree and/or relevant professional experience (Cardiorespiratory). You will be able to offer high-quality practice knowledge and skills relevant to our Physiotherapy students and be committed to inter-professional higher education. You will have a sound understanding of the UK statutory and professional requirements, and evidence of active continuing professional development.
How will you work?
We are committed to supporting flexible methods of working wherever possible and this role is a combination of on-campus teaching and working, but there will be some days where you can work remotely on teaching planning and other role-related activities
Campus attendance will vary on a day-to-day basis and across the year but must purposefully align to the service being delivered and to the needs of our students, staff, and stakeholders The role would require teaching on noth the Medway and Canterbury campuses
