Full Job Description

The School of Education is seeking to appoint a full-time Grade 7 Teaching and Scholarship Lecturer to teach on the MA/PGDip Deaf Education Programme (Teacher of the Deaf Qualification) and potentially contribute to our inclusive education programmes. The post-holder will oversee the regional support for distance education students including the mandatory teaching practice component, undertaking in situ visits. Some face-to-face contact time with students and colleagues in Leeds is expected. The post is available full-time.
The School of Education is a nationally approved provider of the mandatory qualification (MQ/ToD) which delivers specified competencies in deaf education required by the DfE. We seek a colleague who is willing to join us in continuing this long-standing, high quality aspect of our work.
The postholder will work alongside the Programme Leader to coordinate and oversee provision of regional support and teaching placement supervision for students, ensuring consistent and quality regional provision and support students for students, acting as the central liaison point between the University, schools and educational settings and the wider deaf education practitioner community. They will be involved in all student-facing activities, including induction, day schools, residentials and module support alongside the Programme Leader via on-line and in-person tutorials, meetings and teaching at the University of Leeds and at regional centres.
The postholder will be a qualified and experienced Teacher of the Deaf with experience of senior management in deaf education, a relevant master's degree and a Teacher of the Deaf qualification.
