Full Job Description

Royal London is seeking a positive, driven and solution-focussed candidate to join Royal London's progressive Legal Operations Team. This position has opened due to an internal promotion and will play a crucial role in supporting our growing legal team in a culture-first business, with an exciting strategy. Reporting directly to the Head of Legal Operations, the successful candidate will join a team of 4 legal operations professionals providing proactive support to the Group Legal Team. The Group Legal Team are responsible for providing legal advice to the whole of the Royal London Group and in this role, you will contribute to enabling the team to do this efficiently and effectively. This is an exciting opportunity to join an established and valued Legal Operations Team, contributing in a meaningful way to both legal service delivery and the achievement of wider business strategy. About the role

  • Proactively support with the management and effective delivery of all operational activities, including oversight of activities delivered by 2 Legal Operations Assistants. Ensuring flawless delivery of all administrative processes; including proactive management of business facing mailboxes.
  • Execution of key operational processes in keeping with our guidelines and policies; including triage and allocation of incoming legal instructions; contract approval and signing; facilitation of external legal engagements; time-recording; and risk management.
  • Ensure that Group Legal has documented and effective processes, driving a culture of continuous improvement, and adhering to best practice standards.
  • Ensure effective delivery of Group Legal's core operational framework and change activities, including the maintenance and utilisation of legal technology solutions, including contract management, legal instruction and triage, and matter/document management systems.
  • Competent utilisation of all M365 applications; including development and management of Sharepoint sites, Teams channels; and Power BI Dashboards.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with the department's key internal and external stakeholders. Ensuring effective management of third-party technology and legal suppliers.
  • Support with the management of functional and external legal budgets.
  • Development, production, and monitoring of regular and timely MI to inform decision making and demonstrate the value of the Legal function.

    Prior experience in an operational role is essential.
  • Experience working in a private practice law firm or in-house legal function preferred.
  • Process-minded, analytical and solution-focused with a growth mindset.
  • Proactive and positive attitude with a genuine curiosity and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in high pressure situations with tight deadlines.
  • Experience in working with Microsoft programmes including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint; and advanced Microsoft suite programs including, MS Forms, Power BI, Power Automate.
