To find out more, please visit https://future.cht.nhs.uk, We are looking for 1 enthusiastic Locum Stroke Consultant who will:
+ Provide effective and compassionate care for our Stroke patients across bed base of 48 beds
+ Develop their own area of specialist interest and provide sub-specialty expertise.
+ Develop and expand the current Stroke service locally and regionally.
+ As a core member of the West Yorkshire Associate of Acute Trusts (WYAAT), collaborate closely with the Tertiary service team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals.
+ Work with the Clinical Director and General Manager to review current working practices and drive forward innovative changes to develop new models of care.
+ Get involved in clinical research, teaching and development.
+ Provide expert advice and support regarding complex cases to clinical colleagues in primary and secondary care.
There is a full-time post providing 10 Programmed Activities (PAs), but applicants wishing to work part- time are also encouraged to apply.

Main duties of the job
Post holder will be providing assessment of patients suspected to have acute stroke when holding the hot phone including suitability for thrombolysis and mechanical thrombectomy. Post holder will be doing a TIA clinic for stroke prevention.
Postholder will be looking after patients on HASU and ASU ie daily morning ward round during 1 week in 5 weeks by rotation with the other 4 Consultants. The post holder will also be responsible for ongoing rehabilitation of stroke patients in stroke rehab ward. The post holder will be following patients from TIA clinic and discharged patients from ASU and Stroke Rehab ward in a follow-up clinic once week.

You will also be required to participate in the DBS Update Service and pay the £13 cost per year. This is a condition of your employment.
