Full Job Description
o An exciting opportunity has arisen for a fixed term 10 PA Consultant Infection post at UCLH to develop data-driven operational and clinical decision support for antibiotic stewardship, with a UCLH NIHR BRC grant covering 5PAs for a maximum of 23 months.o The person should have good knowledge of electronic health records, and ideally of the Epic Electronic Health Record system in place at UCLH. They should have a mixture of data, digital and analytical skills. The candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team including specialists in machine learning, software architecture and research into antimicrobial stewardship. o The direct clinical activities within the post are varied and will give the post-holder an opportunity to gain experience in a variety of infection liaison activities to best inform the data development work to support the needs of teams providing antimicrobial stewardship., Data Science roleThe research component of the post sits within the UCL Institute of Health Informatics. It will create a platform for data-driven operational and clinical decision support for antibiotic stewardship. We will utilise data models for antimicrobial stewardship already constructed at UCLH. We aim to work with clinical teams to yield efficient probabilistic and system-wide searches and provide relevant information at the point of decision. We intend to devise live reporting dashboards with a real-time alert system for a quality-controlled, observable, and auditable tool chain grounded in the principles of ML-Ops. Our primary emphasis will be on structured data with gradual capacity expansion for multi-modal data integration. In the second year, we intend to use this infrastructure to launch a model pipeline that swiftly responds to user and system needs such as hospital outbreaks, winter pressures, and clinical usage cases. The candidate would be expected to provide knowledge and clinical insight and guidance, champion the programme of work within the UCLH clinical teams, contribute to the design and conduct of the research including applications for research governance approval, protocol writing, academic publications and further grant applications. Support the implementation of the necessary digital safety standards for these tools (e.g. DCB0129/160, NHS Digital Technology Assessment Criteria, and possibly Software as a Medical Device regulatory approvals )
