Full Job Description

Our nurse specialists have experience in cancer nursing and specialise in the care and support of patients with a Urology Oncology disease. This includes supporting the patient's families and carers. You will be proving specialist care and advice to patients from diagnosis through treatment, living with and beyond Cancer. This will include

  • Providing personalised care and support to patients.
  • Understanding what is important to the patient.
  • An opportunity to discuss and further explain diagnosis and treatment options available
  • Nurse Led diagnosis clinics
  • Provide Macmillan Holistic Needs Assessments at diagnosis and end of treatment. This will include completion of end of treatment summaries with referral onwards to a wide range of support utilising the local community where appropriate
  • Developing links with other professionals, specialist teams and services in primary secondary, tertiary and community care
  • Supported Self- Management
  • Act as referral and liaison for the MDT and an information resource for those who are involved in the care and management of urological malignancies
  • To work autonomously as a specialist resource for uro-oncology patients with cancer conditions, their career and other professionals.
  • Provide care for a case load of patients
  • Aim to prevent unnecessary admissions.

If so, we may have the perfect opportunity for you as we have a vacancy for a part time Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist in Urology Oncology. This role is to deliver and provide high quality support and care to patients on the Urological cancer pathways. You will be able to work autonomously and as part of a team. You will deliver care either through clinics either face to face or telephone and support to patients on the wards. The role will be working within a team of Cancer Nurse Specialists, a Cancer Care Coordinator, Consultants and the wider MDT to deliver standards of care and practice associated with the Local and National Cancer frameworks and Guidance. Additionally the team work closely with the urology and oncology specialists in Leeds Experience of nursing within Urology and/or Oncology is desirable although support and education will be provided with mentorship.
