Major Projects Manager - Southwest and Wales

We are currently looking for a Major Projects Manager - Southwest and Wales to join our Commercial Management team in the Southwest and Wales region to lead and manage key client relationships and proactively manage key projects within the region driving significant value to the overall business. This is a vital role looking at both securing key projects and gaining insight from the market for the business to ensure that all opportunities are maximised. Leading the coordination and development of bid submissions to secure work on major projects that increase revenue and profit. This is a regional role so the location is flexible to suit you. You may be in Bristol or perhaps home based in the South West or in South Wales. The suitable candidate will be managing projects across the region travelling as necessary. We're working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and it's important that our people come from a variety of different backgrounds.Role Responsibility Reporting to the Commercial Director, the role of Major Projects Manager will be responsible for identifying potential schemes, typically larger than £50m, which require high volumes of Tarmac products and recommend projects that are best suited to Tarmac or will help the business to grow, rejecting those with unreasonable risk or low chances of success. The role of Major Projects Manager will also:

• Matrix manage teams made up from Business Unit, Regional and Functional staff to develop and execute work winning ideas
• Help to position Tarmac as a key partner with selected customers
• Identify strategic fixed assets and suggest new / mobile assets to support increased revenue
• Produce quality pricing documents that differentiate Tarmac
• Create and maintain a network of contacts who are influencers on major projects
• Identify health and safety risks for unusual activities and support the operational teams to develop mitigation measures
• Produce insightful and concise management reports

• Established project management skills

• Ability to motivate team members in a matrix management environment
• Strong numeracy skills and commercial acumen with a good understanding of how to maximise profit
• Experience writing successful quality submissions and proposal documents
• Ability to call on a network of contacts in customer organisations to support work winning (preferred)
