We currently have a great opportunity for a seasoned project finance specialist and recognised leader in the sector to join our Infrastructure and Project Finance (I&PF) leadership team, reporting directly into the Global Head of I&PF. As a Managing Director, you'll play a leading role in developing and driving forward the I&PF strategy whilst creating significant realisable origination opportunities from a proven network of advisors, corporates and sponsors in the market from C-Suite interaction. Primary responsibility includes leading origination activities in sourcing, advising/structuring and implementing highly sophisticated structured project finance deals in all sectors (Super Core, Core and Core+) (including inter alia; Transportation, Midstream, Renewables, Power, Digital Infrastructure, Regulated Utilities and Social Infrastructure). This role requires extensive engagement with C Suite clients (existing clients, new to bank, Financial Sponsors, Advisors, Lending community including both traditional banks and Institutional Investors) and internal partners (Credit, Asset Management, Coverage, Rates, Capital Markets, Ratings Advisory and Legal). Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and where relevant support the Directors in the origination and structuring of I&PF transactions that support the core LBG franchise including Scottish Widows opportunities providing a seamless client experience & ensuring full alignment with LBG strategy.
  • Act as lead Deal Captain for the most complex lending and advisory transactions, collaborating closely with all internal and external partners and taking full ownership of driving forward internal processes to deliver successful financial close on transactions.
  • Act as a mentor for Director and Associate Director talent pool and beyond, providing significant guidance and teaching for all colleagues and developing their abilities appropriately.
  • Build and maintain the highest levels of internal networks, ensuring close interaction with Product Partners, Credit, Coverage, Asset Management, Legal, and Scottish Widows to ensure the strategy and business development activity carried out within the I&PF business is appropriately aligned
  • Develop positive relationships with the top 10 largest I&PF sponsors/corporate entities. Collaborate with the advisory community to improve I&PF and bolster the Bank's reputation and identify new business opportunities that align with our business strategy.

  • Extensive knowledge of the Infrastructure and Energy sector with a consistent track record in lending and/or advisory, matched with an outstanding transaction deal sheet with reference to the UK and increasingly the USA.
  • Validated deal experience acting as an underwriter, lead structuring bank, advisor with recent transactions closed.
  • Outstanding network of contacts and strong rapport across the sector including Sponsors, Advisors, Banks, Institutional Investors.
  • Full knowledge and understanding of the structured finance market and different financing structures - Project Finance, WBS, Hybrid financing, Debt Capital Market offerings (Bond, USPP, ITL, Underwriting), PP (SW) and knowledge of Rates product (Swaps, FX)
  • Understands the regulatory and compliance requirements affecting Banks and specifically Project Finance
