Full Job Description

Here at Parker Meggitt, we're recruiting for site-based Mechanical Test Engineers to join our Fareham-based Engineering Team. You'll need to be capable of providing assembly and testing services during the development process, performing technical support to assist the Engineering function and providing solutions to problems in situations that are atypical or infrequently occurring based on existing precedents or procedures. As part of this role, you will maintain engineering laboratory 6S standards (Sort, Set, Shine, Standardise, Sustain, Safety) and will organise the storage, calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment and component as necessary, maintaining records. Your responsibilities

  • Compiling written procedures to test and fault find assemblies/products (Electronic, Mechanical and Electro mechanical)
  • Performing testing and preparing reports and test analysis as required
  • Preparing sample products for design and qualification testing
  • Constructing and testing prototype designs and special-to-type test rigs
  • Compiling and following written procedures to set up, test and fault find Electronic, Mechanical and Electro mechanical products
  • Building and reworking breadboards, printed circuit boards, Test cables, Wiring looms and assembling mechanical assemblies

    ONC or equivalent experience (in a Mechanical, Electronic or manufacturing discipline)
  • Capable of compiling and following written procedures to test and fault find electronic assemblies/products
  • Ability to perform and report on testing, preparing sample products for design and qualification testing; including fixtures and cables
  • Adept at constructing and testing prototype designs and special-to-type test rigs
  • Sound knowledge of electronic test principles and practices gained from hands on experience
  • Experienced at building and reworking breadboards, printed circuit boards and wiring looms and able to assemble mechanical assemblies
  • Well-versed at reading and interpreting technical data (drawings, technical publications and circuit diagrams)
  • Able to solder to required standards (IPC A-610 or equivalent)
  • Ideally, you will also have
  • HNC or equivalent experience (in a Mechanical, Electronic or manufacturing discipline)
  • Experience of qualification (e.g. RTCA/DO-160)
  • Experience of managing an engineering lab environment
  • Experience of liaising with sub-contractors and working off-site with minimal supervision
