An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Medical Staffing Manager to join the PRUH General Medicine Care Group at Kingu2019s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. u00a0We are looking for a resilient, enthusiastic, motivated and proactively driven individual to fulfil this key position within the Care Group.u00a0 u00a0 The postholder is responsible for providing a reliable and efficient medical staffing service to all doctors and consultants across the Care Group, as well as providing an excellent administrative service to the operational and medical teams .u00a0 Acting as the first point of contact for any medical staffing enquiries, the postholder will have the responsibility for the provision of a safely staffed medical team in conjunction with the Clinical Leads.u00a0 This post can also be offered as a 12 month secondment.u00a0 Candidates must be able to be released from their current roles within 4 weeks or earlier.u00a0u00a0 Main duties of the job The post will entail creating and maintaining medical rotas, sourcing locum medical staff to within budgetary limits, organising honorary and observer contracts, managing medical recruitment campaigns, processing medical leave and sickness records for the medical staff, organisation of regular junior doctor rotations and inductions in conjunction with the Clinical Leads and a variety of other tasks required to provide the Care Group with an efficient medical staffing service.u00a0 Working for our organisation Kingu2019s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UKu2019s largest and busiest teaching Trusts with a turnover of cu00a31 billion, 1.5 million patient contacts a year and more than 15,000 staff based across South East London. Detailed job description and main responsibilities This is a key role within the Care Group operational management team. The post holder will act as the technical expert for all medical staffing related activities within an allocated service area. The post holder will take a lead role in the delivery of the medical staffing coordination function working closely with operational managers as well as Clinical Leads and Clinical Directors.u00a0 The post holder will also line manage the medical staffing coordinator.u00a0u00a0 Key responsibilities will include:

  • Manage and co-ordinate Junior Doctor Rotas to ensure compliance with current requirements, identifying gaps and organising cover in line with service needs and budget constraints.
  • Manage and oversee medical staffing recruitment (including local induction) within service area for substantive and locum staff
  • In conjunction with Operational Managers, monitor financial management of medical staffing through the participation in regular reviews to identify issues and discuss efficiency savings.
  • Advise Operational Managers and Lead Clinicians on any other medical workforce related issues.
  • Person specification

  • Educated to a degree level or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience
  • Extensive experience in medical staffing and or healthroster management
  • Knowledge and Experience Essential criteria
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across a range of disciplines and levels.
  • An attention to detail, which ensures that accurate quality information, is produced.
  • Detailed knowledge of the legal, national and local frameworks pertaining to the employment of medical staff including the Junior Doctoru2019s New Deal and European Working Time Directive Regulations.
  • Previous Medical Staffing experience ideally from the NHS or any similar medical provider
  • Desirable criteria
  • An understanding of recent policy developments in the NHS relating to medical staffing.
  • Skills and Attributes Essential criteria
  • Good computer literacy (to ECDL standard) including the use of computerised recording systems, word processing and excel spreadsheet packages.
  • Ability to analyse, interpret, present and communicate both verbally and in writing complex information in a way that informs decision making.
  • Managerial and leadership experience.
