Are you a highly motivated, proactive, and enthusiastic pharmacy technician looking to step into a rewarding role in mental health care? If the answer is yes, we have an exciting opportunity to join our friendly, innovative, and supportive medicines management pharmacy team as a Band 5 Medicines Management Pharmacy Technician (MMT)., You will be part of a team delivering clinical pharmacy services to:

  • Adult mental health inpatient wards (Norwich and Kings Lynn)
  • Kingfisher Mother and Baby Unit (Perinatal mental health service - Norwich)
  • Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment (Norwich and Kings Lynn)
  • Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (Norwich)
  • Drug monitoring clinic (Norwich)
  • As a medicines management technician, you will:
  • Work with other medicines management technicians and team managers to provide adequate cover for activities across dispensary and clinical services, prioritising and directing as required to ensure that optimum service delivery is maintained.
  • Order medicines for stock and individual patients at ward-level in preparation for discharge using the appropriate IT systems.
  • Participate in medicines management schemes on the wards including Patients Own Drugs, Self-administration, medicines reconciliation and non-stock top ups.
  • Maintain a good stock control on the wards.
  • Undertake patient counselling about their medicines and provide individualised information and advice about medicines to patients, carers, and other health professionals e.g., medical and nursing staff.
  • Involve in discharge planning for service users ensuring a seamless medicines pathway into primary care.
  • Participate in Trust wide medicines management initiatives.
  • Participate in medicines management audit projects.
  • Support the education and training for student pharmacy technicians and trainee pharmacists.

    This post is suitable for a GPhC registered pharmacy technician wanting to move sector and from any clinical background. The successful candidate will be based at Hellesdon Hospital in Norwich and may be required to travel to different sites with travel reimbursement.
  • The ideal candidate will work closely with our pharmacists and MMTs, carrying out various medicines management activities to provide a patient-orientated, high quality and comprehensive clinical medicines management service to designated inpatient wards primarily at Hellesdon Hospital. You will hold an Accredited accuracy checking qualification and be proficient in medicines reconciliation. You will have a flexible approach to the needs of the service and have a strong team work ethic. You must be well organised and able to prioritise your own work, have good interpersonal skills and be confident working independently, and as a fully integrated member of the multidisciplinary team. There is a 1-day/month dispensary commitment with this role. We are looking for one full time and one part time MMT please specify clearly on the application which position you are applying for.
