Full Job Description
Due to the internal promotion of the previous postholder, we require a Music Technician to join our vibrant and dynamic Creative Arts department. The Music Technician would be required to assist in a variety of tasks (including but not limited to) working directly with tutors and students across FE and HE levels, support within lessons, inductions and workshops, and the preparation and execution of our extensive list of annual live showcases. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of Music performance and production, and the set up and operation of Live Sound within our variety of studios and the Theatre. The Music Technician should have excellent knowledge using Digital Audio Workstations including Logic and ProTools and will be assisting both staff and students using these systems. They will also have excellent familiarity with a variety of Musical Instruments and the supporting kit. The Music Technician will also be responsible for the Health and Safety within their department - including writing and upkeep of documentation (Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work, COSHH), ensuring that their departments are following H&S Protocols, and maintenance of the spaces/machinery/equipment. You will be expected to work some late nights and weekends to assist facilitating our performances and events both internally and externally. If you are a team player who is passionate about helping learners reach their full potential, then we want to hear from you!, The ideal applicant must be qualified and educated to a minimum of a Level 2 qualification (Degree level would be desirable) in Music or a suitable similar field. The suitable candidate must be experienced in Live Sound and Music Performance, and will also preferably have had past exposure to Music Production. The applicant must be a team player, passionate, able to work under pressure and against tight deadlines. Someone who is highly organised, flexible and able to demonstrate innovation and initiative in this fast paced, creative environment would be best suited to the role.
