  • Economic analysis across several projects for government departments to support decision making on mobile telecoms strategy and policy.
  • Regulatory costing advice for telecoms regulators
  • Expert regulatory and costing advice for international mobile and fixed network operators.
  • Industry insights on international good practice to inform 5G and fibre strategies for international telecoms businesses.
  • Support to operators on regulatory pricing consultations.
  • Support for a European regulator in running its regulatory accounting consultation.
  • Assessment of 5G policies across countries leading the 5G rollout and lessons learnt from these.
  • Strategic review of the telecoms supply chain for 5G services of a large European country.
  • Economic review of the telecoms supply chain for 5G standalone, telco cloud, RAN, optical communications and BSS/OSS services for a large European country.
  • Benchmarking and assessment of the current regulatory framework and performance of the Communications ministry of a country in the Middle East.
  • Support for a large telco in developing its full fibre business case model to get funding approval from its Board of Directors.

  • The Role Our business is continuously expanding and we are looking for high quality candidates to support the growth of the Telecoms and Digital team. As a Manager you will be expected to manage projects from conception to completion. The work will include a combination of report drafting, preparing presentations for key stakeholders, economic analysis, and engaging with clients. To support the expansion of the Telecoms and Digital team, you will also be expected to support the business development activities such as drafting proposals and thought leadership materials. You will also need to be comfortable managing, coaching, and mentoring junior staff on specific projects. Requirements for this role include:
  • Building relationships with clients and other advisors
  • Maintaining a good understanding of policy and regulatory issues in the Telecoms and Digital sector and the associated financial implications.
  • Being involved in business development to identify new opportunities
  • Contributing to specific business development initiatives, particularly proposals and pitches
  • Managing delivery of several small and medium size engagements on a day-to-day basis
  • Ensuring quality of economic and financial analysis as well as written and verbal advice
  • Taking responsibility for the quality of deliverables produced for clients
  • Providing effective management, coaching and mentoring of junior staff on specific engagements
  • Ensuring KPMG's risk and compliance procedures are adhered to
  • Recognising and addressing potential risks
  • Any other duties commensurate with the role

    Proven experience in the Telecoms and Digital sector, in the industry, as a regulator, policy maker or as a consultant specialising in these sectors.
  • Have a detailed knowledge of the current UK regulatory regimes and regulatory mechanics for Telecoms as well as their application.
  • Understand operations of the wider Telecoms and Digital sector, its structure, composition, stakeholders and relevant policy debates.
  • Be skilled in financial analysis, with a detailed working knowledge and experience of financial modelling.
  • Have a sound knowledge of finances and financial structures of Telcos
  • Demonstrate good working knowledge of economic and financial theory and its application.
  • Propose compelling and well-thought-out solutions to complex economic and/or financial problems, being able to provide persuasive and self-assured responses in a credible manner
  • Bring excellent report writing Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Be comfortable and experienced in an external facing role and in presenting to clients
  • Be an independent thinker with the ability to identify problems and contribute to the development of solutions, helping us to remain at the cutting edge of innovative thinking in the sector

  • At least 3 A levels or equivalent; Undergraduate or higher Graduate Degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics or similar (candidates with other degrees will be considered depending on their experience)
