Full Job Description

In this newly created role, the incoming hire will oversee the Payments function, with oversight of all daily incoming & outgoing payments ensuring cash is correctly reflecting in client accounts in line with CASS policies.,

  • Oversee the processing of all external and internal payments using the online banking systems.
  • Supervise the resolution of incoming payments and exceptions, ensuring effective communication with clients.
  • Ensure the timely processing of regular contributions and direct debits.
  • Review and approve payments to clients and market counterparties.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with banking and direct debit service providers.
  • Oversee the management of client inquiries related to the receipt or payment of cash.
  • Ensure that all FX currency payments are processed daily, monitoring the process for accuracy.
  • Supervise the prudent funding of bank accounts on a daily basis.
  • Ensure all regular contributions and direct debits are processed efficiently and correctly.
  • Ensure sufficient cash availability in each account to facilitate daily trading activities.
  • Provide leadership and support to the Client Service team in handling client queries, ensuring timely responses within agreed deadlines.
  • Oversee the investigation and resolution of any breaks assigned to the team, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Ensure the maintenance and accurate storage of direct debit mandates and mandate registers in accordance with CASS 8 regulations.
  • Guide the continuous development of systems and processes, liaising with internal and external counterparts where necessary.
  • Oversee the production of management information, including KRIs and KPIs, related to cash management.
  • To act as the initial point of escalation for the Payments team and alert the Deputy Head of Operations on such matters, as appropriate.
  • Promote a culture of root cause analysis to prevent reoccurrence of exceptions and control deficiencies.
  • Conduct and lead team meetings with a focus on fostering collaboration, sharing insights, and setting actionable goals, ensuring that each team member's voice is heard, and contributions are valued.
  • Enhance the performance of the department through ongoing coaching and feedback in areas of personal effectiveness, ensuring all skill-gaps for direct reports are acted upon.
  • Coach others to ensure all employees are supported and committed to embracing diversity & inclusion, organisational and personal objectives.
  • To ensure the team is cross trained in all areas.
  • To review regular management information.
  • To respond to audit requests.
  • To suggest & implement changes that would make Payments more efficient.
  • To proactively drive processing efficiencies and controls to mitigate processing risk

    Proven experience of leading a Payments function within Financial Services
  • Understanding of cash management for retail clients
  • Understanding on institutional cash flow management in line with trade cycles
  • Experience of payment processing via online banking systems
  • Clear and structured communicator, able to quickly gain the confidence of governance committees.
  • Evidenced ability to energize and align direct reports with the overall Company purpose, through clear direct management and guidance; and the building of high-performance team(s).
  • Working knowledge of the regulatory frameworks and requirements that apply to the business, including the CASS rules when managing client's money or assets.
  • Understanding of Equities, Fixed Income, ETFs and mutual funds and how the associated cash is managed (desired)
  • Experience of dealing with external custodian cash processing and management (desired)
