This vital role within our Sixth Form offers the opportunity to shape the student experience positively. We invite applications from candidates with a strong background in pastoral support and a commitment to delivering high-quality academic guidance. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a purpose-built Sixth Form with outstanding facilities and exceptional student behaviour. Join our dedicated team to provide the highest quality of support and provision. We currently have two vacancies for the Personal Progress Mentor position at our thriving Sixth Form college. In this exciting role, you will work with A Level learners, offering academic and pastoral support through one-on-one sessions, study skills development, and engaging tutorials. You will be responsible for approximately 180 learners, planning and delivering relevant tutorials while ensuring essential training on safeguarding and staying safe is provided. With high aspirations for all our learners, we encourage and support their progression to Higher Education, with over 30% students heading to Russell Group universities and some pursuing Oxbridge. Your guidance will be essential in navigating the UCAS application process and supporting those interested in degree apprenticeships or employment by liaising with employers for work placements. If you are passionate about supporting learners both personally and academically and excel in communication, we would love to hear from you!

As the ideal candidate for the Personal Progress Mentor role, you will be an excellent communicator who thrives in a focused educational environment, placing students at the heart of your work. You will actively engage in our diverse tutorial programme, which emphasises developing independent A Level students through a Growth Mindset approach. If you are looking to join a team that prioritises staff wellbeing and values personal development while making a positive impact on students, Barnsley College is the right fit for you. In this role, you will provide both pastoral and academic support through tutorials, study sessions, and one-on-one assistance, helping students with their next steps, including UCAS and job applications, while enhancing their organisational, time management, and study skills. You will also address attendance issues and support learners who are not meeting their target grades.
