Are you passionate about delivering outstanding pharmacy services in a fast paced, hospital environment? An exciting opportunity has arisen to provide near-patient pharmacy services in Medicines Management (MM).
This advert is for band 5 applicants. If we are not successful at recruiting at band 5 we are able to consider a band 4 applicant and are currently advertising for the post of Band 4 Medicines Management Pharmacy Technician. Providing medicines management or other technical information to healthcare professionals both within and externally to the trust to ensure continuity of care. Communicating with other health care professionals regarding difficulties in supplying medicines to ensure appropriate patient care is always maintained.
Achieving and maintaining accredited and/or extended competencies in area of practice as identified in local pathway documentation.
Supervising, planning, and managing day to day work of allocated staff, reviewing and reallocating tasks when necessary to meet workload demands.
Deputise for operational manager and provide leadership where necessary e.g., at weekends/on late nights. To be responsible for the management of junior staff including supervision, appraisal and informal management processes.
To be involved in the recruitment and induction of new staff including recruitment chair. To create and develop operating procedures and to ensure that staff are following processes accordingly.
We have a friendly and developing team of over 300, consisting of registered Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacists and Pharmacy Support Workers who work alongside trainees. We challenge each other to be better every single day, while improving our services to meet the ever-changing needs of our diverse patient base.
The Medicines Management team operate between 8.30am and 4.30pm each day, working in the inpatient dispensary until 7pm fortnightly.
You will be required to join our weekend and bank holidays rota so we can continue to offer our services every day of the year.
You will get the chance to experience a wide variety of tasks, building your knowledge and skill base while providing excellent patient care.
To act as a role model and mentor to junior staff; providing support, guidance training and assessment as needed to develop staff. Responsible for giving developmental feedback, including via the appraisal process, documenting, and keeping relevant records. Developing action plans and referring appropriately to relevant managers for follow up if necessary. To act as a buddy mentor or educational supervisor to allocated staff.
Responsible for the contribution to service improvement, evaluation, and development. Actively identifies areas of improvement. Proactivity contributes to service development and is responsible for service improvement through the application of tested improvement tools and techniques.
Responsible for the review, development and implementation of local Standard operating procedures including the dissemination of training to ensure processes are reviewed, updated and understood by staff working within them.
Responsible for the safe storage and supply of medicines. Maintaining knowledge of regulations and legislation associated with medicines
