Full Job Description
To operate and monitor the Trusts Patient Flow system on behalf of the portering department. This is an integral part of the patients journey within the the Trust, and as such, requires someone with an eye for detail and a diligent attitude. This position requires someone with great communication skills at all levels, from porters to the Chief Executive. This vacancy is open to all internal and external candidates. NHS Employees should ideally secure their manager's agreement for a secondment arrangement ideally prior to applying, as this will be a condition of any offer made. This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term basis, it has been established due to a pending service review and will end after 12 months. Whilst this post is advertised on a fixed term / secondment basis there is the potential that this post may become permanent in the future.", As a member of the site Portering team you will undertake a wide range of clerical duties to support the service as directed by the Managers · Receive and make incoming/outgoing calls for the department with internal and external contacts, taking any messages and initiating appropriate action for portering assistance. · Completion of databases & spreadsheets for recording and reporting activity through the Portering control Systems. · Accuracy when recording information. · Produce memo's, letters and reports promptly and accurately. · General photocopying, scanning, faxing. · Receives and opens incoming mail, sorts and posts outgoing mail at the end of the working day · Manage ad hoc bookings for furniture moving and removal and co-ordinate this work with the ad-hoc duty porter. · Liaise with departmental colleagues, other staff and managers in the Trust, external suppliers and contacts, Finance Department and users of services as directed. · Use of Oracle systems for checking invoices & Delivery notes. · Establish and maintain effective and efficient filing systems. · Maintain general records. · To update the intranet menu on a daily basis. · Maintains stationery stock and requisitions replacements · Plans and arranges meetings for Managers. · Any other general clerical duties as directedWorking for our organisation Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are the proud providers of acute hospital and community services to the people of the Wigan Borough and surrounding areas. - Receives incoming calls for managers and Departments from external and internal contacts, takes messages and appropriate action.
- Contacts & liaises with suppliers as requested by managers.
- Liaise with wards on transfer queries.
- Liaise with colleagues, external suppliers, finance and users of services as directed by managers.

- Maintains stationery stock and requisitions replacements
- Record ad-hoc duties and report potential recharges
- Bring discrepancies to the attention of the Management
- Safe use of equipment and stocks

- Compliance with Trust and Local procedures Compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 - the post holder is required to fulfil a proactive role towards the management of risk in all of their actions. This entails the risk assessment of all situations, the taking of appropriate actions and reporting of all incidents, near misses and hazards, and a statutory duty of care for their own personal safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions. All Wrightington Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust staff employed within Clinical Environments and have contact with children, vulnerable adults; service users and their families must familiarise themselves, be aware of their responsibilities and adhere to Local Safeguarding Children's Board, Local Safeguarding Adult Board and WWL Procedures for Safeguarding and Protecting Children which are available on the Trust Policy Library. In accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, employees who are required to interact regularly with the public, both face to face, and by telephone, are required to be able to speak English to an appropriate standard relevant to their role, i.e. with confidence and accuracy, using correct sentence structures and vocabulary, and without hesitation. Compliance with the Health & Social Care Act 2008 - Code of Practice on the Prevention and Control of Infections and related guidance - the post holder is required to fulfil a proactive role towards the reduction and management of healthcare related infection in all of their actions. This entails compliance with Trust Infection Prevention and Control policy and related Standard Operating Procedure (SOP's); along with risk assessment of all situations; as staff have a statutory duty of care for their own personal safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions. Staff must be fully compliant with Trust Infection prevention and Control eLearning policy. All applicants to any post within the Trust are required to declare any involvement either directly or indirectly with any firm, company, relevant person or organisation which has any interest with the Trust, the services provided by the Trust or any element of patient care.
