Full Job Description

Working with international and national partners as part of ERC urbisphere, NERC ASSURE and AFESP URBANE, and with ECMWF, Met Office, NCEO (National Centre for Earth Observation), researchers the candidate will undertake research activities under the supervision of the Principle Investigator and in collaboration with others. This includes Conducting urban weather modelling in cities (e.g. London, Berlin, Paris, Bristol) using urban land surface models (e. g. SUEWS, MORUSES) offline and online (e.g., UM, IFS, WRF-SUEWS. SUEWS-DAVE, SUEWS-EnergyPlus).

  • Analyse observations such as undertaken in urbisphere-Berlin (Fenner et al. 2024, BAMS)
  • Evaluate model performance using observations
  • Contribute to the development of improvements to urban canopy model schemes considering momentum, radiation, anthropogenic heat, moisture and other scalars
