Full Job Description
We have a unique opportunity for two experienced Preadmissions Nurse Specialist to join our well-established and dynamic team. The key role of the successful candidate will be to undertake the Pre-assessment of elective patients awaiting surgery under general anaesthetic using specialised history taking and clinical skills. Prescribing and adjusting medication following agreed protocols and procedures. Act as a team leader supporting & teaching junior colleagues.
You should be able to manage your own case load and deputise in the absence of the Unit Manager.

Essential experience, knowledge, skills & abilities:
+ A passion for delivering an excellent patient-focus service, The Prescribing Pre-Operative Assessment Nurse Specialist (PANS) will practice under the supervision or direction of the PAU Consultant Anaesthetist. The PANS will take independent clinical responsibility for the provision of pre-operative care, optimisation and preparation of elective surgery patients. They will run their own clinics within the PAU and work according to the Nursing and Midwifery Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines and take responsibility for providing specialist nursing advice and support. They will facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients and relatives/carers, without supervision in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team and in line with local and national targets and policies, maintaining a high level of skill and professionalism., The Prescribing Pre-Operative Assessment Nurse Specialist (PANS) will practice under the supervision or direction of the PAU Consultant Anaesthetist. + Experience in a Preadmissions Unit
+ Ability to obtain an in-depth patient history and perform physical examination
+ Independent Non-Medical Prescriber
+ Experience in autonomous working
+ Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
+ Teaching and mentorship experience.
