Full Job Description
The role involves acting as deputy section leader and the nominated RPA, MPE and LPA to a significant number of RPC's external clients around the British Isles. The postholder will work with a high degree of autonomy to ensure that RPC's service specification is delivered to its clients.
They will perform RPA/MPE/LPA audits to assess compliance with the regulatory framework and play an important role in the development of RPC's scientific services. They will also play a key role in the delivery of RPC's training commitments to healthcare professionals (via scheduled and ad hoc training courses)., + Audit services with regard to their compliance with legislation relating to radiation and laser safety and advise on corrective actions arising.
+ To act as deputy section leader.
+ To support and work closely with the Section leader in delivering RPC's service commitments.
+ To personally act as RPA, MPE and LPA to sites that are the responsibility of the post holder.
+ Responsible for all the advice and support given by RPC for areas and customers for which the post holder is the RPA or LPA
+ Responsible for the investigation of radiation incidents and provision of radiation incident reports to clients. To ensure the accuracy of incident reports provided by other colleagues.
+ To contribute to the development of RPC's income generating services.
+ To take a significant role in aspects of scientific research and development, aiming to improve the applications and safety of the use of radiation.
+ Provide advice on legislation and guidance in radiation protection to clients.
+ The post holder is required to keep up-to-date with current legal requirements.

The Radiological Protection Centre (RPC) at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust acts as Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA), Radioactive Waste Adviser (RWA), Medical Physics Expert (MPE) and Laser Protection Adviser (LPA) to a large number of healthcare organisations around the British Isles.
It has about 16 staff and has been established as one of the leading providers in the sector since 1985. + Provide advice on legislation and guidance in radiation protection to clients. The post holder is required to keep up-to-date with current legal requirements.
