Full Job Description

Together with your team, you'll be devising and running a programme of events and activities throughout the year with partnerships at their heart. You'll be focussed on building these local partnerships with a range of businesses and organisations. Your role will include responsibility for some budgets and will be supervising volunteers. In this role you'll regularly act as duty manager. Being a duty manager at Ormesby Hall, you'll be responsible for opening and closing the property and being the first port of call for any queries that day. You'll also be expected to respond to radio calls and will manage the volunteers on duty.

We're looking for an enthusiastic individual to deliver a varied programme of commercial and visit-driving events to a diverse visitor audience. Working across Ormesby Hall in Middlesbrough and Nunnington Hall near Helmsley, this job is fast-paced and requires resilience and good time management to achieve all outcomes. You'll be required to work evenings and weekends. You also sometimes may be required to work at Roseberry Topping, North Yorkshire., We'd love to hear from you if you're:

  • experienced in running events and activities, and/or working with community partners
  • familiar with audiences in the areas of heritage, culture, arts and the natural environment
  • used to running small partner-led projects within the heritage and arts sectors
  • able to measure and assess results, and show their impact
  • good at talking and listening to, and getting on with, all kinds of people
  • someone who puts people first, and understands what's needed for everyone to receive great customer service
  • flexible and happy to work with different teams and partners, and to go wherever you're needed to balance the workload of your team

Working mainly at Ormesby Hall and Nunnington Hall, you'll be part of the Visitor Experience team, reporting to the Experience & Visitor Programming Manager and working closely with the Senior Visitor Experience Officer at Ormesby Hall and the Visitor Experience Officer at Nunnington Hall. You'll plan, deliver and evaluate a varied programme of events, from food festivals to murder mysteries and work with partners to create new and exciting visitor programmes, helping to drive income and raise awareness of the sites.
  • Home of the Pennyman family for nearly 400 years, this classic Georgian mansion, with its Victorian kitchen, attractive gardens and estate walks. Ormesby Hall captures the spirit of the intimate home of Colonel Jim Pennyman, the last of the Pennyman line, and his arts-loving wife Ruth, as well as the stylish legacy of the 18th-century character 'Wicked' Sir James Pennyman - so named because of his extravagant lifestyle and his gambling with the family fortune., The National Trust is committed to promoting and preserving those places of natural beauty and historic interest for which it has the privilege to be responsible for the benefit of the nation, for everyone for ever. The Trust is proud of what has been achieved over the last 126 years and is determined to maintain those high standards of conservation, stewardship and curatorial care for which it has been recognised throughout the world. Its achievements have enabled the general public and the Trust's members and visitors to enjoy and appreciate the countryside, coastline, gardens, historic buildings and collections, all of which encapsulate so much of the history of England, Wales and Northern Ireland. There is a duty to tell that history in a complete, balanced and accurate way, and without judgement. The National Trust continues as a guardian of the past, and for the future, to uphold its duty to maintain and enhance what has been entrusted to its care.

The package The National Trust has the motto 'For everyone, for ever' at its heart. We're working hard to create an inclusive culture, where everyone feels they belong.
