The Sport Esports Public Services Travel Tourism department at Barnsley College is offering an exciting opportunity for a Teacher in Public Services to join our team and provide invaluable support to students at this crucial stage in their education As a Teacher in Public Services within the Service Industries Department, your role involves collaborating closely with Course Leaders and other team members to plan, deliver, and assess learning activities in Sport & Public Services. The focus is on employing effective teaching methods that challenge and inspire students, guiding them towards achieving their learning goals and potential. The main responsibilities include planning and delivering engaging lessons that align with the Public Services curriculum. You will be responsible for preparing and adapting teaching materials as directed by Course Leaders or Managers and for selecting appropriate resources that cater to diverse learning needs. Accurately planning and assessing student work will be essential to monitor progress and provide support where needed. A variety of teaching methods should be utilised to meet programme aims and cater to the personal goals of individual learners. The role also includes department-specific duties, such as planning, leading, and supervising trips and residential visits that support curriculum learning and skills development. Building strong partnerships with industry providers, employers, and other services is essential for enriching the learning experience. You will also work closely with Course Leaders to provide additional support when required. This position requires a commitment to creating a supportive, engaging, and challenging learning environment that enables all learners to thrive and reach their full potential. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting student success within an educational setting, along with a strong understanding of working with diverse learners aged 16 and above. A background in education with a focus on learner achievement is essential, and you should be skilled in maintaining accurate records of attendance and progress.   • Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject, or substantial sector experience.
  • Teaching qualification, or willingness to work towards a Level 5 PGCE if not yet obtained.
  • Preferred
