Participate in the provision of a breast screening imaging and diagnostic service for the West Berkshire Breast Screening Service and the Symptomatic Breast Service Provide a high standard of radiographic imaging whilst ensuring that patients receive high quality care by supporting their physical and psychological needs. Required to work within the West Berkshire Breast Screening Centre based at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, the mammography suite in the Radiology Department of the Royal Berkshire Hospital and on the community based Mobile Screening Unit(s)Working for our organisation The West Berkshire Breast Screening Service at present provides regular screening for 78,000 women over 3 years in a Breast Screening unit located opposite The Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading and on two mobiles which visit various sites around the lovely countryside of West Berkshire. In addition we also cover the symptomatic service within the Royal Berkshire Hospital and West Berkshire Community Hospital . We have recently upgraded two of our x-ray machines to Siemens Revelations, both with associated Biopsy & Tomosynthesis.Detailed job description and main responsibilities The post holder will participate in the provision of a breast screening imaging and diagnostic service for the West Berkshire Breast Screening Service and the Symptomatic Breast Service The post holder will provide a high standard of radiographic imaging whilst ensuring that patients receive high quality care by supporting their physical and psychological needs. The postholder will be a role model for the profession and will participate in the supervision, training and support of more junior staff They will exercise autonomy within professional and managerial boundaries and be responsible for the prioritisation and organisation of own work activities in response to clinical and service needs The post is based in the West Berkshire Breast Screening Unit, which is part of the Radiology Department of the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust The postholder will be required to work within the Radiology Department, the Breast Screening Unit, West Berkshire Community Hospital and on the community based Mobile Screening Unit(s)

In addition to holding the Diploma of the College of Radiographers or relevant Radiography Degree, you must hold a UK recognised Post Graduate Award in Mammography or Certificate of Competence in Mammography from the College of Radiographers Candidates must be registered with the HCPC and currently residing in the United Kingdom. This position is exempt from the Sex Discrimination Act and is therefore only open to female applicants. Due to the nature of the role, a valid driving licence and access to a car is required. The mobile Breast Screening Units are relocatable around West Berkshire, and not always accessible via public transport.,

  • State Registration with the Health & Care Professions Council, Evidence of recent and extensive post-registration experience at Band 5
  • Proven clinical experience across a range of radiographic equipment and techniques
  • Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience within a breast screening or symptomatic breast service
  • Experience of staff supervision and/or training, Post Graduate Certificate in Mammography or equivalent recognised qualification, BSc Degree in Radiography or equivalent radiographic qualification, DCR(R), You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
