Full Job Description

We are seeking a Relationship Manager to join our growing team within Citi's Commercial Bank (CCB). This role will be covering Life Sciences clients which includes private and public growth stage companies in the Medical Device, Tools & Diagnostics, Life Sciences, and Digital Health industry sub-segments. Growth in this segment is based on a prudent and organized approach to client selection and capital allocation to ensure we are developing strong relationships with clients who seek Citi's unique value proposition based on our global platform and sophisticated product set, including the investment banking advisory and asset management services. This role will have primary responsibility for acquiring new commercial banking clients and deepening existing client relationships. The Relationship Manager is responsible for evaluating and meeting clients' needs by efficiently utilising the bank's resources across the globe. They will work closely with partners in Cash Management, Capital Markets, FX Risk Mitigation, International Trade, Working Capital Management, and lending to conduct in-depth analysis and propose customized solutions. Responsibilities:

  • Manage existing clients and self-originate new business including the identification of target clients, proactive account planning, effective pipeline management, building & leading collaborative deal teams, leading on client & prospect pitching activity and executing transactions.
  • Build relationships with Citi network and operational teams, becoming a key contact for client requests, internal requests/escalation and resolution.
  • Maintain strong sales & self-origination disciplines, including direct calling/marketing, professional network referrals and sector influencer referrals.
  • Establish a strong understanding of our clients' and prospects banking & financing needs, in particular how clients will benefit from Citi's unique global offering across International Cash Management, Capital Markets, FX Risk Mitigation, International Trade & Treasury and Working Capital Management solutions. Partner with product specialists and pitch Citi's value-add proposition to target clients.
  • Manage key client stakeholder relationships (CEO, CFO, Treasury) and bring the 'whole bank' to the client to ensure exceptional client service.
  • Develop and maintain strong ties with Citi's Commercial Banking teams across the global network, in particular CCB colleagues working across the Healthcare sector vertical and CCB colleagues supporting subsidiary businesses overseas.
  • Represent CCB across the Healthcare sector, establishing a sales & marketing plan, attending events and leading on social media activity.
  • Support Relationship Associates with client onboarding, working on customer due diligence and record creation for both new, existing and prospective clients. Liaise both with the client and internal KYC / AML teams to handle requests and documentation related to client on-boarding.
  • Proficient use of internal systems and applications in order to obtain, store and manage data in relation to credit, KYC, account management and client reporting.
  • Close co-ordination with Credit partners, such as Transaction Management, Corporate Loan Management (CLM) and Independent Risk, for credit line set up and availment, ensuring that approvals obtained are in line with requirements under the Risk Policy and ensure timely resolution of data exceptions (facility excess or unmatched transactions)
  • Timely completion of the Annual Credit Reviews and interim requests and updates
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Citi's policies / guidelines at all time. Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

    Experience in Corporate Banking/Commercial Banking, preferably with exposure to the healthcare sector.
  • Experience in a client relationship role or client facing role
  • Sound knowledge of commercial banking products and of general banking processes, onboarding processes and cash management & liquidity
  • Formal credit training preferred
  • Experience working with different capital structures and capital markets teams preferred
  • Skills:
  • Excellent client relationship skills with superior communication, interpersonal, and influence skills that facilitate successful client pitches and proposals
  • Passion for creating new business opportunities and able to demonstrate innovative approaches to meeting client needs.
  • Demonstrates advanced level of Early Warning Detection skills
