Full Job Description
We are looking for a highly motivated research assistant to join Dr Lusine Grigoryan's research group in the Department of Psychology at the University of York. The research assistant will work on a project funded by the European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant, entitled "The many faces of prejudice: the "What", the "Why", and the "How" of inferences we make from membership in social groups". The project will address three broad research questions: What inferences people across the globe make from membership in social groups? Why do we come to believe that group memberships are informative? and How do we process information about different group memberships at neural level? The project will address these questions with cross-cultural survey experiments, text analysis, developmental experiments, and neuroimaging. This role is fixed term for 12 months., Supervised by Dr. Lusine Grigoryan and a postdoctoral research associate, you will help with day-to-day running of the project, including preparing study materials, data collection, data analysis, and participating in writing research articles and disseminating findings of the project. Opportunities for mentorship and additional collaborations will be available and encouraged. This is an excellent opportunity to gain research experience for candidates who are motivated to pursue an academic career in the field of social, developmental, or (cross-)cultural psychology.
The successful candidate will have :
+ Undergraduate degree in Psychology or equivalent experience
+ Knowledge of and interest in social cognition and cross-cultural research
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills and an ability to self-organize and to work as part of a team
+ Research experience in the field of social, developmental, or cognitive psychology is desirable
