Rheumatology Clinical Nurse Specialist - 22.5 hpw

This specialist post will exercise judgement, discretion and decision-making in clinical care, in relation to the management of patients diagnosed within their speciality, their carers and professionals involved in their care. Thus enabling through direct and indirect activity the monitoring and improving of standards of care, clinical audit, development of practice through research, teaching and the support of professional colleagues and the provision of skilled professional leadership in and around rheumatology nursing. They will act as an autonomous practitioner and have the freedom to act to influence patient care and service provision, in conjunction with Lead Nurse and Consultant Rheumatologists. The post holder will provide highly specialist clinical nursing expertise to rheumatology patients running nurse led clinics. There will also be a requirement to monitor and care for patients on standard biologic and disease modifying drugs, including immunosuppressive and cytotoxic therapies. The post holder will be required to ensure the smooth running of the service by working closely with senior Clinical Nurse Specialists, Consultants and other Multi-Disciplinary Team members. Working with senior management teams you will be required to lead on certain areas of clinical governance, audit and research, and facilitate managing risk and dealing with complaints.
