Full Job Description

The Global Benefits Risk & Compliance (GBRC) team is responsible for managing global risk activities that include identifying, inventorying, assessing, controlling, and monitoring important benefits-related risks in countries where we do business. As a member of the GBRC team within Amazon's Benefits Experience and Technology (BXT) organization, the Benefits Risk Specialist works with GBRC team members and stakeholders in the EU, UK, ME, APAC, LATAM, and US on risk projects, risk programs, and goals related to Amazon's global health, wellness and financial employee benefit programs, assisting in evaluating these programs from a risk and compliance perspective. This includes researching and documenting legal and regulatory obligations, working with project teams to translate legal and regulatory obligations into system or process requirements, assisting in performing compliance inspections, documenting compliance processes and controls, performing control testing, validating compliance
gaps and remediation efforts, analyzing compliance data, documenting procedures, and other activities to support the risk team in its mission. These activities may be driven by new legal requirements, geographies, types of business, solution implementations, emerging risk issues, or ongoing risk monitoring, among other things.

Key job responsibilities
- Develop deep knowledge of GBRC's risk management programs, methodologies, and tools.
- Support the team's ongoing efforts to identify, assess, monitor, and report on known and emerging risks.
- Conduct compliance inspections to determine state of compliance, analyze overall risk exposure, and draft reports detailing findings, results, and remediation plans.
- Map and document compliance processes and controls, determine and document control testing procedures, perform control testing, and document findings.
- Draft written narratives to communicate the results of compliance reviews, risk analyses, and recommended actions to GBRC team members and stakeholders.
- Assist risk managers as they negotiate with process owners to improve compliance, mitigate risk, and drive efficiencies.
- Follow up with GBRC stakeholders on their risk remediation efforts, and document current status for risk reporting.
- Facilitate discussion meetings with team members on various risk topics or administrative items.
- Document and maintain the risk team's inventory of regulatory obligations and their related risks in using the team's risk and compliance tools.
- Assist risk managers in the completion of risk assessments on various topics, including performing data analytics on the size and severity of potential impact to help quantify risk exposure.
- Assist the team in its periodic risk reporting efforts to BXT leadership.
- Assist the team's risk managers with other risk and compliance activities and projects as needs arise.
- Able to travel 20%, as necessary.

About the team
The Global Benefits Risk & Compliance (GBRC) team is made up of attorneys, risk specialists, data security specialists, automation experts, and privacy specialists with global HR and benefits backgrounds. We provide our benefits stakeholders guidance to help them make risk-informed business decisions and improve their team's risk management strategies and compliance posture. The team proactively scans the horizon for new and emerging risks not yet fully developed or understood, and performs inspections to identify compliance gaps and control weaknesses before they materialize into risk events. We provide end-to-end risk management oversight, including risk identification, risk assessments, risk quantification, compliance advisory services, inspection services, control design and testing, compliance solutions, risk monitoring and reporting, issue management, and risk training.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Previous experience in an audit, compliance, or risk management role
- B2+ English level, Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferably in Business / Law / Compliance / Economics / Accounting
- Advanced degree in a related area (MSHR, MBA, JD)
- Experience in a multinational organization or consulting firm
- Risk or Audit Certification
- Experience performing risk management activities, such as audits, compliance reviews, risk assessments
- Knowledge of employee benefits programs, regulations, and best practices
- Ability to be adaptable and flexible in pivoting between work assignments
- Ability to manage ambiguity and drive results
- Experience building cross-team partnerships and delivering without a direct reporting relationship
- Problem solver, able to troubleshoot issues independently or escalate when necessary
- Sense of accountability and sound professional judgment - proven analytical capabilities
- Experience analyzing large amounts of data and developing reports and metrics
- Excellent written and oral English communication and presentation skills
