Full Job Description

Are you a graduate Occupational Therapist looking for an opportunity to develop your skills in a hospital based rotational post? Are you HCPC registered, or will you be imminently? The graduate rotational scheme offers the chance to have varied clinical experiences in urgent and emergency care, acute inpatient and rehabilitation settings. We have enthusiastic and experienced clinical teams who'll support your post graduate development, at a pace to suit your needs. You will work closely with the team across the hospital, allowing our patients to benefit from a strong and vibrant MDT approach where patients come first in all we do. As a role model, you will influence further developments in OT across the hospital, acting as a liaison point, and contributing to the development of health and well-being across the organisation. All new graduates will start at Band 5 if there is confirmation of the completed degree and just awaiting HCPC registration. If not yet received confirmation of your degree, we can commence you at Band 4. The ability to transport yourself & equipment across the locality during the course of a normal working day is beneficial for this vacancy. This exciting role will enable you to develop extensive skills in clinical areas, leadership & people management within the NHS environment, whilst receiving excellent support for both your personal and professional development. We offer & support both in-house clinical & professional training., Rotations will usually be 6 months duration; rotational areas may vary.To work as part of the Occupational Therapy rotational scheme and contribute to a high standard of Occupational Therapy within the Trust.To assess, treat, provide, and evaluate Occupational Therapy for a designated group of patients within the acute, community or outpatient setting.To hold responsibility for own caseload, as an autonomous practitioner and to manage this using evidence based/ client centred principles.To work as an autonomous practitioner, holding responsibility for your own caseload of patients with social, physical, psychological, behavioural, and cognitive challenges.To provide support, advice, and training to less experienced members of staff and students.To act as a resource within the department and Trust providing information and advice in those conditions indicated.To contribute to a defined area of service working without direct supervision; clinical work will be evaluated in line with Trust and service objectives.To engage in regular clinical/managerial supervision and undertake education and training, to develop oneself and others.To contribute to evidence-based audit and projects to evaluate and improve clinical practice and evaluate user involvement suggesting local service changes where appropriate.To be involved with appropriate clinical networks that may be at a local, regional, or national level.

The programme lasts for 12 months and includes dedicated time, away from clinical practice to support new graduates' transition from student to autonomous practitioner. You will be assigned a preceptee who will support coach, mentor and guide you through regular meetings, alongside a programme of structured learning.
