The Safer Communities Service has a key role in supporting people throughout the borough and currently includes the following strands; Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) - Community Engagement - Crime Reduction, which includes the management of Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) and Community Safety - Licensing - Prevent - Statutory Nuisance - Trading Standards - Violence Against Women & Girls (VAWG) - Violence Reduction (Public Health response to Violence)

  • Safer Communities Violence Reduction Team Manager
  • The Violence Reduction Team brings together professionals from the local authority, health services and the police to provide a multi-agency approach to breaking the cycle of involvement in violence; both as victims and as perpetrators. The Safer Communities Violence Reduction Team Manager will be responsible for the day to day operations and practice of the Violence Reduction Team within Safer Communities. The role holder will develop and have responsibility for the performance management of the violence reduction team, projects, the monitoring, evaluation and reporting to the central Violence Reduction Unit (VRU). Developing practice across the team and Safer Communities Service, ensuring that work completed is to a consistent high standard and that policies and procedures are fully implemented, whilst ensuring that young people and families receive a high quality service. This role is multifaceted with co-chair responsibilities for multi-agency meetings. These meetings consider cases of concern, which includes children/young people at risk of or have been impacted by Child Sexual Exploitation, Criminal Exploitation, Missing Episodes, High Harm Group, Drugs and Substance Use (County Lines), and violence prevention and reduction initiatives., Whilst the service is primarily based at our Holbeach Office in Catford, SE6 we operate a hybrid approach whereby you may be required to work both in the office, visit and attend meetings and appointments across the borough, and from home as determined by service requirements. There may also be appointments outside of the borough which you may be required to attend on behalf of the service. Special conditions

  • An ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high pressure environment will be second nature as will an ability to work on their own initiative with excellent communication skills. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills, and significant experience in managing teams, developing relationships with a wide range of stakeholders from a range of diverse backgrounds.
