Full Job Description
The post holder will be responsible the day-to-day security service of the Trust, therefore, protecting patients, visitors, staff and assets against all acts of crime and other risk. The Post Holder must hold a full (clean) UK driving license, as the role will include some driving. The post is offered subject to the completion of enhanced DBS vetting and the successful completion of the physical restraint and officer safety training provided., + To be able and when necessary completing all duties of staff that are managed by the post holder
+ To manage all Security Officers, Security Support Officers and Front of House Receptionists day to day duties. Allocating all duties and ensuing they are carried out professionally, effectively and efficiently.
+ To manage and plan all departmental roasters, including the management of Annual leave and sickness, timekeeping and attendance keeping all systems up to date and accurate.
+ To carry out appraisals for all security personnel, reviewing performance and creating personal development plans.
+ To arrange and book temporary staff to cover leave, sickness or special duties using the trust staff bank system. This includes booking shifts and times sheets.
+ Responsibility for planning training for all security staff, ensuring all mandatory and annual training completed and is kept current.
+ The post holder must ensure all staff below them and their own knowledge on law, policies, standard operating procedures and trust matters is kept current and up to date.

We think that by doing so, we are better able to treat our patients as well as being a better place to work., As a Security Team Leader your time will be spent working within mainly the Whittington Hospital site, but will have responsibilities for community based properties and you may be required to attend and work on other sites occasionally.
We are looking for individuals who are self -motivated and enjoy working in a very busy and changing environment. You will require excellent organisational skills, be able to prioritise your own workload and work well under pressure.
The successful applicant will manage the Security Officers, Security Support Officers and bank staff. The post holder will work a 4 on 4 off shift pattern (including nights, weekends & bank holidays). The Team Leader will for part of a 4 man team and will you will be protecting people and property, detecting and preventing crimes while providing a reassuring presence to our staff, patients and visitors. The Team Leader role also holds Administrative duties and will monitor and oversee incident reports, complete investigations and compile reports for senior management.
The successful applicant will need to be able to cope calmly and effectively with both routine and emergency situations, be a compassionate, professional and courteous individual. Ideally have management experience, be able to set examples and lead from the front.
The role involves many different duties and requires you to be able to adapt to dealing with difficult situations and be sensitive when dealing with particular situations. You will be required to use appropriate skills to diffuse and de-escalate aggressive behaviour and physically assist in restraining violent and confused patients.
Previous security experience in a large and diverse organisation is essential. A full driving licence is essential, as is the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing by making reports and undertake a range of tasks using computer software. The offer of employment is pending the successful completion of the trust approved control and restraint/ officer safety training.
