Full Job Description
Are you committed to helping us regulate health and social care within England?, Work with stakeholders and teams within the unit to scope, refine, and shape complex pieces of work to meet organisational needs.
Oversee, and where necessary, undertake analysis to extract relevant information and insight, including from multiple data sources, and present it in a clear and actionable manner.
Design and develop compelling visualisations and reports to communicate and highlight insight and data.
Identify and combine data, tools and methods to deliver needed insight.
Design and supervise quantitative data collection where required.
Advise and influence stakeholders to ensure outputs are fit for purpose and deliver required outcomes.
Represent CQC externally, collaborating with and influencing relevant external stakeholders where required.
Ensure that the views of the public and people using services are in the design and delivery of Data & Insight services and products.
Lead on relevant strategic or operational relationships across CQC and externally.
Lead large analytical projects and pieces of work including:
- taking responsibility for defining analytical work requirements,
- ensuring application of appropriate methodologies
- ensuring best practice in selection and use of data
undertaking, leading and monitoring implementation of analysis, synthesis of findings, presentation, dissemination as appropriate
Help identify and design insight outputs to support changing or emerging regulatory needs, reviews and publications.
Design and undertake appropriate quality control and assurance for delivery of output.
Provide direction and guidance to peers and junior colleagues, including line management and development of teams, where required.
Promote a strong data culture across CQC in line with the organisational data strategy
Promote a culture of respect and fairness and understand personal responsibilities around delivering against CQC diversity and inclusion strategy
Role model inclusive behaviours in everyday interactions.

You will be able to get up to speed quickly with new data sources, explore vital national issues and deliver accurate and actionable insights. You will be able to collaborate with and support other colleagues and lead workstreams and initiatives on behalf of Strategic Insight. You will be motivated to understand complex topics through exploring available data and you will be curious, asking the so what in all your analysis. You will be able to work flexibly and collaboratively with a passionate team and you will have excellent stakeholder engagement skills, able to translate your technical analysis into clear findings and actions for internal and external audiences., Educated to degree level or have equivalent professional experience
Expert quantitative analysis skills
Experience of basic qualitative analysis
Proven ability to set up a system to get data ready for use and specify how data should be cleansed and prepared
Proven ability to prepare and structure data for analysis. Good understanding of industry best practice data-modelling patterns and standards
Strong decision-making skills and capability to make sound judgement with limited supervision
Experience in reconciling conflicting views and articulating coherent rationales for action
Ability to identify problems and lead the delivery of solutions and preventative measures, escalating where appropriate
Proven ability to understand stakeholder needs, manage stakeholder expectations and influence at all levels on the use of data and insight
Proven ability to tailor the communication of insight in the most appropriate and compelling way for the audience, including through storytelling and visualisation.
Desirable
Knowledge and understanding of the health and care sectors.
Experience of using record-level health and care datasets
