Full Job Description

Senior Doorkeepers maintain the security of the House of Commons Chamber, galleries and committees, and carry out ceremonial duties when required. When the House is not sitting, duties relating to visitors to Parliament are also performed. Some of the responsibilities for this role include:

  • Maintaining the security of the House of Commons chamber, galleries and committees.
  • Responsibility for the reception and conduct of visitor to the House of Commons.
  • Ceremonial duties.
  • Impeccable customer service.
  • Understanding of Parliamentary business.
  • Recognise all Members of Parliament.
  • Control Access to various areas of Parliament.

    To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
  • An ability to establish effective working relationships with members and staff at all levels, upholding the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion at all times.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, developing mutual trust and confidence in others.
  • Proven and practical experience and knowledge of security measures in an environment with public access., Disability Confident
