Full Job Description

  • Lead and manage a diverse range of planning projects, from early-stage advice to post-consent implementation, ensuring successful outcomes for clients.
  • Provide strategic planning advice and support across a variety of sectors including residential, commercial, mixed-use, and regeneration projects.
  • Take ownership of client relationships, providing tailored planning solutions and maintaining long-term partnerships.
  • Manage and mentor junior team members, providing guidance and support to help them develop their careers.
  • Work closely with other senior members of the team to drive business development activities, including preparing and presenting proposals and reports to potential clients.
  • Liaise with local authorities, statutory bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth progression of projects through the planning process.
  • Manage and coordinate the preparation of planning applications, appeals, and other submissions to relevant planning authorities.
  • Keep up-to-date with developments in planning policy, legislation, and industry best practices.

    MRTPI (Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute) or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Proven experience in a planning consultancy, local authority, or development management role, with a focus on complex projects.
  • Strong understanding of the planning system and experience of leading projects across a variety of sectors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality reports, deliver presentations, and negotiate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • A track record of successfully managing teams, providing leadership, and supporting the professional development of others.
  • A proactive, results-oriented approach to business development, with experience of generating new work and fostering client relationships.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
