Full Job Description

My name's Keir Brisbane and I am the Service Manager for the Youth Service. In our service we support young people (aged 14-25 years) who are experiencing moderate to severe mental health difficulties. We have enthusiastic and skilled staff who provide the support that is needed - and they are motivated to make a real difference to young people, their families and carers. Additionally, we are making a number of positive changes to the service; seeing waiting-lists drop and taking opportunities to think innovatively about our practice. We're really excited to offer an opportunity for a Lead Therapist to work in our diverse multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to lead on the delivery of psychological therapies in the North Youth Team, to provide specialist interventions and to support staff through quality supervision. Main duties of the job The role of the Lead Therapist is to provide specialist therapeutic interventions, leading on the delivery of therapy in the team, and to contribute to the overall leadership activities - so that our work is always holding the young person in mind, and is effective, safe and kind. If appointed, you will : Deliver specialist therapeutic interventions. Complete quality assessments with young people. Offer support, supervision and informal training to your colleagues. Contribute to, and lead multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings. Review the performance of the therapeutic interventions in the team, and to identify ways of improving further. Contribute to leadership activities for the team. Undertake other clinical tasks within the team.

You will have Training in a core professional discipline (Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Nursing, Psychology, or equivalent), Registration in HCPC, NMC, or equivalent. In addition, you will have training in one psychotherapeutic discipline (registerable with UKCP or BABCP or equivalent), with further knowledge and ongoing CPD regarding another psychotherapeutic discipline.,

  • Extensive clinical experience working in statutory services
  • Highly specialised experience of developing and delivering specialised treatment packages with individuals and groups / families.
  • Extensive experience in the supervision of practitioners in delivering Psychotherapies.

  • Experience of working with a wide variety of patients whilst maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems.
  • Substantial experience in managerial / clinical supervision of others casework.
  • Skills Essential
  • Highly specialist, theoretical knowledge of Psychotherapy and the application of appropriate models of practice, according to client need.
  • Excellent communication skills with a range of people in a variety of both clinical and managerial settings.
  • Advanced knowledge of a Psychotherapies evidence based interventions used in the effective management of common mental health problems.

  • Working knowledge of health legislation and current practice in mental health, including risk assessment and management.
  • Proven research and audit skills.
