Why Join our Team? Samsung's Smart TV Platform is the leading living room platform for OTT content consumption and distribution. The Business Development Team is responsible for sourcing, negotiating with, and managing content partnerships with leading media & content players on the Samsung Smart TV platform in Europe. We work very closely with our Product and Ads colleagues, and the three teams together comprise ESBO, the European Services Business Office, based at Eighty, The Strand, Central London., Samsung Electronics UK is recruiting for a Senior Strategic Business Development Manager to join the European Smart TV Business Development Team. This person will be the face of Samsung to some of our most significant partners in Europe and participate in shaping the direction of the largest OTT platform in the world! In this position, you will negotiate deals, build and nurture relationships with Smart TV ecosystem partners, with responsibility for growing Samsung's content and services business and making sure partners are using Samsung's full platform capabilities and distribution.

  • Negotiate high value multi and single territory deals across Europe.
  • Develop partner and market(s) partnership strategy
  • Develop highly effective, deep relationships with key partners. Provide day-to-day management of partner relationships with a focus on growth activities.
  • Support Samsung's European subsidiaries with local partner management.
  • Drive thought leadership on the evolving OTT space and advocate across the organisation on behalf of partners and opportunities.
  • Work cross-functionally across business, product, operations, and other parts of the organisation (including Korea HQ) to develop and implement business strategy
  • Drive thinking on key business metrics for partnerships, taking ownership for mobilising partners and internal resources to meet objectives
  • Prepare strategy documents, quarterly business reviews, and executive presentations
  • Travel as needed to visit partners and Samsung's local offices
  • What we need for this role While handling the day-to-day partner relationships, this person will need to be able to see the big picture while remaining detail oriented. They will demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to lead meetings, negotiate well, drive presentations and represent Samsung to all levels of partner organisations. The Strategic BD Manager must be a self-starter and will need thrive in a fast-paced environment, take the initiative, manage multiple partners, and work under tight timeframes.

  • BA/BS or equivalent experience required, MBA/JD preferred but not required
  • Strong negotiation exeperiece and account management ideally for digital content distribution at a studio, network, digital platform, TELCOs)
  • Ability to solve complex problems and navigate large, global organisations with lots of ambiguity
  • Passionate about technology and new media trends
  • Self-motivated, assertive, persuasive and analytical
  • Confidence with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are a must
  • What does success look like? The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and negotiation skills, as well as a strong analytical mind with and the ability to navigate and embrace complexity. They will need to have a deep understanding of the media landscape, OTT trends and platforms, and evolving business models. They will also need a keen sense of product awareness to articulate platform value and represent product requirements. Outstanding relationship-building skills and the ability to dive deeply into both business and technical issues will be critical to success in this role.
