Full Job Description

  • To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team in order to support and help to provide a comprehensive Paediatric within the Trust
  • Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of patients.
  • Assisting with teaching, training and assessment of junior staff and medical students, nursing staff and other members of the multi-disciplinary team
  • To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
  • To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).

We are seeking a specialty (middle grade) doctor in Paediatrics to join our enthusiastic team. This is an established post that includes CESR training, designed specifically to enable doctors with previous experience and training in paediatric medicine to develop their career through a tailored training program. We envisage this programme to run for around 5 years depending on the individuals previous experience and working pattern, culminating in the requisite skills, experience and portfolio to support application for a Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) through the GMC.

The Community and Children's Directorate runs regular Clinical Governance and Audit meetings and there is a monthly Clinical Governance and Audit Meeting within the paediatric department. There are weekly CPD opportunities in the Postgraduate Centre including the Grand Round and various lectures. The post holder will also be asked to contribute to teaching and training at the weekly medical training sessions for trainee medical staff alongside other departmental teaching.
