    We are looking for a laboratory-based Senior Scientist, with exceptional wet lab skills, to help shape our company's new London Discovery Biologics team at The Francis Crick Institute. Our aim is to discover, and develop, novel therapeutics in the field of immunology and neuroscience.
  • You will be part of a new multi-disciplinary team generating antibodies to support new drug candidate discovery and development. As a laboratory based scientist, you will be responsible for key aspects in the identification, expression, purification, engineering and characterisation of pre-clinical candidate molecules. The role is a key interface with immunology, neuroscience and other functions across our company, as well as with external academic and industrial partners. Successful candidates must demonstrate inclusive behaviours in working with a diverse group of scientists to drive our core mission., PhD in Biochemistry / Immunology / Neuroscience / Molecular Biology (or related field), or a M.Sc. and a minimum of 5+ years industry experience, or a B.Sc. with 8+ years of industry experience.
  • Excellent communication skills and collaborative mindset with ability to work and share knowledge across disciplines and departments.
  • Preferred experience:
  • Relevant pharmaceutical industry experience highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge in some of the following areas:
  • Antibody structure/function/novel formats.
  • Practical experience with analytical assays for characterisation, and biophysical understanding of proteins/antibodies (e.g. LC/MS, SPR).
  • Cell culture - protein expression and purification (e.g. Affinity chromatography, IEX, HIC, SEC, AKTA).
  • Molecular biology (e.g. PCR, cloning and mutagenesis).
  • Antibody sequence optimisation and engineering.
  • Outsourcing and working with CROs.
  • High-dimensional flow cytometry and FACS-based immunophenotyping (both panel design and downstream data analysis).
  • Protein design/engineering (structure-based, AI-guided).
  • Operating automation (e.g. liquid handling).

    Our company has a rapidly growing interdisciplinary team of scientists in London and exciting plans to expand our London presence, initially at The Francis Crick Institute as part of our 'Skylab' expansion, and from 2027 in our new state-of-the-art London Discovery Research Centre and UK Headquarters at the hub of London's Knowledge Quarter. This will be home to approximately 180 scientists alongside other colleagues in clinical, regulatory and business roles, including marketing, finance and administration.
