Full Job Description

The role of the Band 5 in the Discharge Lounge plays an important part in promoting hospital staff in all areas to transfer those patients who meet the criteria to be transferred to the lounge. The Band 5 is expected to support any ward areas where necessary to assist the patient's transfer to the lounge. This includes transferring patients who need a last dose of intravenous anti-biotics, dressings and checking blood glucose if appropriate and administration of essential medication.

The Band 5 role also includes to check discharge medication with the patients and ensuring all nutritional needs are met during their stay and to ensure that their discharge is safe.

Our teams are amazing, and this has been demonstrated even more so during the unprecedented challenge brought by the Covid-19 pandemic.

As a Staff Nurse working on the unit you will be a valued member of the team, providing high quality care to patients prior to discharge , in a professional, compassionate and competent manner. You will be able to contribute ideas and support clinical initiatives in order to provide evidence based patient care.
