  • The Opportunity We currently have an exciting opportunity for of number of Student Statisticians to join our Technical Operations and Research and Development Statistics teams for a 13-month internship at our manufacturing site in Witney, Oxfordshire, starting summer 2025. We are keen to hear from candidates looking for an opportunity to make an impact at work and contribute to patient health for the next generation of glucose monitoring technology. In this role, you would be joining a large vibrant, friendly and diverse group of Statisticians and SAS programmers, where you can expect to work across a diverse range of projects and utilise various statistical techniques. Key activities as a Student Statistician include:
  • Providing statistical support to various different functions across the business, helping to produce statistical outputs and inference for use in presentations and reports.
  • Applying statistical techniques learnt within your degree in real world applications.
  • Monitoring the performance of new and existing products to ensure control, accuracy and looking at ways to drive continuous improvements.
  • Using SAS to analyse a diverse range of clinical, laboratory and manufacturing data.

    You should be studying for a degree in Mathematics, Statistics or a similar numerical degree, and have a requirement for a year in industry as part of this course.
  • SAS programming skills would be beneficial but is not essential as on-the-job training will be provided. The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual who takes initiative, is able to work within a team and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment. You will need to have good oral and written communication skills to be able to collaborate with different people within the department, prepare reports, interpret results, and provide effective summaries. You must be organised and flexible in your approach to work, with good attention to detail in order to ensure that data and analyses are accurate. We're looking for someone who is passionate around STEM, and keen to pursue their career in the Medical Devices sector. Career growth and future opportunities are pillars of our program.     Our Diabetes Care division is part of the Medical Devices group, and it is here that we design, develop, and manufacture leading-edge blood glucose monitoring systems, including our revolutionary Freestyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System, which is used by patients and healthcare professionals for the day-to-day management of diabetes. The system consists of a hand-held meter or smartphone app, and disposable test strips or on-body patch containing a sensor. The meters are developed in Alameda, California, and the strips and sensors developed and manufactured in the UK, at Witney, near Oxford.
