Full Job Description
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Substance Misuse Healthcare Assistant to join the team at HMP Leeds, a busy category B prison located in Leeds Centre., As our new Substance Misuse Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:
- Be involved in the implementation of clinical care packages, phlebotomy and assessment, treatment and the evaluation of patients care
- Work from an appointment ledger, reviewing patients across the SMS service, including methadone, drug use and withdrawal
- Carry out reception duties, reviewing new patients to the prison and assessing, including obvs, urine samples etc
- This role will support the SMS NMP team in delivering medication and care to our substance misuse patients.
- You will primarily be working within the clinical substance misuse team, although may be required to carry out duties in the primary care team
- Respond to emergency situations as necessary If you are interested in career development, we have a wide range of opportunities for you to develop your skills and experience, which include both internal and external options for development and learning.
- Hold a NVQ Level2 in Healthcare
- Have experience in a care setting previously - ideally from a hospital or prison setting, experience within A&E would be beneficial
- Any experience in substance misuse or mental health would be a bonus!

Salary: This position is full time , youll receive an annual salary of £24,670 - £28,691 per annum - depending on experience.
