Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Gower College Swansea for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team on a part-time, fixed-term basis, supporting students in their academic journey.,

  • To provide one-to-one or small group support under lecturer direction as appropriate in the classroom setting.
  • To assist with the development of learners' literacy and numeracy skills.
  • To assist with the pastoral care needs of learners and to direct learners to other college support mechanisms as necessary.
  • To provide learners with help in understanding oral and written instruction.
  • To assist with the co-ordination of learners' work, record keeping and progress through liaison with lecturing and support staff at all levels within the College.

    Maths and English GCSEs: A - C Grade or equivalent
  • Experience of working with young people in a similar job role
  • Knowledge and understanding of the needs of students with additional learning needs/learning difficulties
  • Confident, resilient, excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Part-time (25 - 30 hours per week)
  • Term-time (36 weeks per annum)
  • Fixed term until 31st August 2025
  • Based on 25 hours per week, 36 weeks per annum, the pro rata salary would be £13,329 per annum (£24,691 Full Time Equivalent)
  • Tycoch / Gorseinon Campus
  • Interviews will take place in January 2025.
  • Please note we are closed for Christmas break from 20th December until 6th January, and will therefore be unable to respond to any queries received during this time.,
  • 28 days (pro rata) annual leave, plus bank holidays, and the college is closed for two weeks over the Christmas period
