Full Job Description

Supporting Teaching and learning in a classroom environment. To provide SEMH support to pupils with additional needs. Maintain the clean, calm and positive work environment under direction of Senior staff. The successful candidate will be required to be over the age of 18 due to the nature of the role (being responsible for children).
Learning Mentors work alongside teaching staff to support students with their learning in classes
To work with all staff to enable students to access the curriculum and when necessary, provide pastoral care
Post holders may be asked to assist in leading groups of students, under the direction and supervision of a competent and qualified member of staff, to offer academic interventions where necessary
Assist students where appropriate, in the proper use of learning aides and equipment and to ensure that they are readily available
Contribute to briefing meetings and partake in the tasks asked to be completed by senior leaders.
Fulfil the cleaning rota with other staff to maintain the cleanliness and safe environment for both staff and pupils.
Delivery to be completed on-site and off the job training either at Barnsley College or your place of work Student to complete an Advanced Technical Certificate as a Teaching Assistant Apprentice.

Functional Skills in English and maths if required.

Working week: Monday - 9:00am-4:00pm Tuesday - Thursday - 8:30am- 4:00pm Friday - 8:30am- 2:00pm Term time only
35 hours a week.

About the employer: We provide an Alternative off site Educational setting for students aged 11-16 who are currently disengaged in mainstream school. Our aim is to get these students re-engaged and reintegrated back into a mainstream setting.

Our team use a person-centred approach and restorative practices with students to help them develop resilience, improve their behaviour choices, and make positive decisions. Our staff team have years of experience working within education and a variety of educational settings including Mainstream Schools, SEMH Schools, Colleges and other Alternative Provisions.
