Barnardo's Employment, Training and Skills Yorkshire have a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and enthusiastic teaching assistant to join our ETS team and help us continue to provide first class support to our busy teams and young people. About ETS Yorkshire Barnardo's Employment, Training and Skills Yorkshire is a Work Based Learning Provider based in Bradford. From this service we provide learning and skills programmes for young people aged 16-24 including: DfE 16-19 Study Programme, Traineeships, Apprenticeships, including those delivered to our staff team across England and corporately funded employer recruitment programmes. Barnardo's Employment, Training and Skills Yorkshire aims to engage, motivate and support young people to achieve qualifications, progress and secure sustained positive destinations such as further education or employment to improve their own life chances and provide a positive future. We are looking for an individual to assist the day-to- day provision of Conductive ETS. To provide help with preparation of materials for classes, and by assisting in groups of young people, aged 14-19 years , to participate fully in their Education and teaching programmes. JOB Activities
- To help learners with a range of abilities and needs in the classroom to complete pre-set work.
- Ensuring that the classroom environment is safe, productive, tidy and harmonious in the absence of the class teacher.
- Keeping pupils motivated to stay on task with any pre-set exercises that their teacher has set.
- Showing pupils the right steps to complete a task.
- Providing any materials or tools needed to complete a pre-prepared task.
- Helping pupils to follow pre-prepared material
- Working across different curriculum areas, including different subjects
- Supporting tutors to manage learners behaviour
- Communicating with the absent tutor and forwarding the completed exercises to them.
- Pastoral support to learners. In addition to this role will include acting as cover in tutors absence, supporting with learner inductions and initial interviews. The hours can be agreed with the successful candidate ( 20-28 hours per week). Also term time only requests will be considered.
