Full Job Description

The department and Trust both offer a welcoming and dynamic working environment. This post also offers the opportunity to live and work in North Yorkshire, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The Trust's location allows easy access to the outstanding countryside of the Yorkshire Dales, Moors and coast. It has excellent schools, many rated as "outstanding" by OFSTED, as well as excellent transport links, being 2 hours from London and 30 minutes from Leeds by train.

York ED is a busy trauma unit caring for approx. 90,000 new attendances per year. There are 5 consultant clinical tutors who form part of the award winning (HYMS teaching awards team excellence winner 2020) acute care education team. As a teaching fellow in York ED you will spend 2 days per week delivering shop-floor teaching to small groups of 4th year students undertaking their acute care block, in addition to quarterly seminars. You will be supported by a clinical supervisor and have the opportunity to undertake additional training in medical education.

This post is based at York Hospital, and is planned as being a full time role with no on call commitment, beginning in August 2025 for a period of 12 months. All clinical hours will be worked in ED and 16 hours per week delivering bedside teaching to medical students. We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic and dynamic individuals who will work well within the team to meet service demands and shifts will include days, evenings and nights and weekends. The post holder will be expected to take part in the management of the full range of ED attendees.
