Full Job Description

With a track record of innovation and development, Abbott Diabetes Care designs, develops and manufactures leading-edge glucose monitoring systems, for use in both home and hospital settings. We have a Global Centre of Excellence for Medical Devices based in Witney, Oxfordshire. The site manufactures significant volumes of test strips annually and has also been instrumental in the research, development and manufacture of the next generation FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System, launched in September 2014. We have an exciting opportunity for a Technologist II to join our manufacturing and R&D facility in Witney, West Oxfordshire. Working in a small and friendly team, your role will ensure the cleanroom monitoring activities are completed to ensure that sterility assurance level is maintained in the Witney manufacturing facility. The Environmental Monitoring Group perform regular microbial monitoring of the cleanrooms, product and utilities to ensure compliance to ISO 8 cleanroom standards. The team review and investigate any trends, champion cleanroom best practices, and assess any changes to cleaning and gowning.,

  • Perform routine environmental monitoring of clean rooms, including air, surface, and compressed air sampling.
  • Conduct particle counts, microbial sampling, and other tests to assess clean room conditions.
  • Document and report findings accurately, maintaining detailed records of all monitoring activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and other regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with production and quality assurance teams to address any deviations or issues.
  • Calibrate and maintain monitoring equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of clean room protocols and procedures.
  • Train and mentor manufacturing personnel on clean room best practice.

    To be successful, you should ideally have a Bachelor's degree in a scientific subject or the equivalent experience in an ISO cleanroom environment. Those with a strong secondary level education and industry experience in an ISO cleanroom environment are encouraged to apply. You must also have excellent attention to detail skills, a logical and methodical approach to problem solving, the ability to prioritise and the flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances or new demands. A lot of your work will involve cross-functional teams, so you'll also need the communication and inter-personal skills to be able to build relationships with colleagues in various departments across the business.
  • You will be expected to spend time in the manufacturing facility, so will need to have, or be able to develop, good hands-on practical skills. Good IT skills including Excel and PowerPoint are also required for this role.
