Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join our lovely team in the Fracture/Orthopaedic clinic. This role is a 20 hour per week contract working in our plaster room across both sites at DRI and Bassetlaw hospital.

Working mainly with our fantastic trained Orthopaedic Practitioners within the plaster room and on a Monday to Friday basis with the occasional Saturday if the service demands.Due to the changes in our service demands the post holder must be flexible over a 5 day period if required.

To provide high quality, patient focussed service for orthopaedic patients both within the department and throughout both hospital sites as requested. Demonstrate expertise in casting and plastering techniques and to provide technical and professional support in other clinical areas within the trust. Orthopaedic Practitioners are responsible for the provision of a high standard of care to both adult and paediatric patients including undertaking specialist casting and splinting procedures.

The post holder will work unsupervised using their own initiative and make appropriate clinical decisions.

Main duties of the job

Removal and application of various casts/splints

Managing a plaster room led dressing clinic

All aspects of wound care

Assessment and understanding of mobility issues including DVT and risks associated with this.
